How To Join Pak Army?
Joining the Pak army is very simple. Anyone can join the Pak army if he fulfills the requirements.
Here I have mentioned how you can join Pak Army after matric, FSc, and graduation. Pak Army jobs for females are also mentioned in this post.
Pak army gives equal opportunities to male and female students. Later in this post, I have mentioned all courses and departments both for male and female as well as courses suitable for you according to your qualification.
How can I join Pak Army after matric?
If you want to join the Pak army as a soldier then here are the minimum requirements of the Pak army.
Requirements Of Pak Army Of a Soldier
- Minimum Height is 5.6 Feet
- The minimum Age is 17 years
- The maximum age is 23 years, 25 years if you have a driving license
How To Join Pak Army as a Soldier?
If you want to join the Pak army as a soldier then the first thing you can do is to check whether you fulfill the requirements or not. The qualification and height are mentioned above. You must be physically fit and have good intelligence.
Tests for Pak Army Soldiers
Pak army conducts tests for soldiers enrolments. These includes
- Medical test
- Intelligence test
- Physical test
Syllabus for Soldiers Written-test
The syllabus of the written intelligence test is simple and constitutes of following topics
- General knowledge
- English to Urdu and Urdu to English translation
- Basic mathematics questions
Pak Army Soldier Selection Procedure
- First, you have to visit the official Pak army website Join Pak Army. There you will see the soldiers section (Only available when the Pak army publishes an ad in the newspaper).
- There you can find details about the soldier’s recruitment, height, qualification, documents required, etc.
Click on the registration form and a form will appear. You must fill the form correctly.
- After the form completion, you will get the intelligence test details(date, time, and venue).
- There are two ways to take an intelligence test. Computerized and written. I would suggest you should take the computerized one because it is simple and efficient. If you don’t know how to use a computer then go for the written test.
- If you are able to qualify for the initial intelligence test then it’s time for the physical and medical test.
- Hope for the best merit list if you have qualified for all these tests. Pak army displays the merit list of soldiers every year.
How can I join the Army after FSc?
You can also join the Pak army after FSc. In fact most of the students join the army FSc or A-Level.
There are three ways to join the Pak army after FSc. Here are they
- PMA Long Course
- Technical Cadet Course
- Army Medical Cadet

PMA Long Course
PMA long course is one of the popular courses not in Pak army but also in all Pak forces.
If you are able to enroll yourself in PMA long course then consider yourself among the luckiest in Pakistan. Every year Pakistan army offers two PMA Long Courses. 1st one in winter and 2nd one in summer.
It is the course in which you can make your way to Chief Of Army Staff. There is no other course in Pak Army that offers this post, neither short service nor soldiers can become COAS.
The service age of commissioned officers in PMA is 60 years. Most of the generals retire at age of 60 or close to this.
PMA Long Course Requirements:

- Graduate (4 Years) 17-24 Years

- BS / BA / BSc – Minimum 60% marks.
- FA / FSc for remote areas mentioned in advertisements – 55% marks.
How to Join the Pak Army Commissioned Officer through the PMA Long Course?
If you want to join the Pak army as a commissioned officer through the PMA then here is the step-by-step procedure.
- Open the Pak army official page Join Pak Army.
- Check if PMA long course recruitment is open or not. You will see a tab on the front page of the website. (Usually, registration is done twice a year, in April and in October)
- If the registration is open, then check the program requirements in detail. Above I have mentioned PMA requirements briefly. If you are eligible then go and fill the registration form correctly.
- You will get the initial computerized test details when you have finished the form. If not then wait 2-3 days. You will get the date and time of the test.
Pak Army Initial Test:
- The initial computerized test is easy. It constitutes an intelligence test and an academic test. The intelligence portion is further divided into Verbal and non Verbal. The academic test is about Physics, General Knowledge, and Islamiat. If you don’t have any idea about the test then click here to take the sample Pak Army Initial test.
- The initial test is divided into two portions, intelligence, and academics. The computerized test is very helpful. As soon as you finish the test you get the result. When you will pass the intelligence test you will get to see the academic test. If unfortunately, you are not able to qualify then your journey is over.
- In case you successfully passed the initial test then the 2nd test is the physical test.
Pak Army Physical Test:
Here are the minimum requirements of the Pak Army physical test
- 1.6 Km run in 8 minutes
- Push-Ups – 15 in 2 min
- Situps – 20 in 2 min
- Chin-ups – 3 in 2 min
- Ditch Crossing of 7.4-inch x 7.4-inch x 4 inches. (These are the minimum but usually, they take more from you. So prepare for the worst)
- If you are not able to qualify for the physical test then don’t feel low. Most of the time Pak Army gives you two weeks extra time to prepare for a physical test.
- After a successful physical test now is the time for a medical test.
Pak Army Medical Test:
Here is the list of important factors of the Pak Army initial medical test.
- Weight and Height
- Knee knocking
- Flat foot
- Fractures
- Eye, Nose, and Throat (ENT)
- Dislocation of bone or structure
- Skin issues (spots, allergies, etc)
- Teeth

- Most of the candidates pass the initial medical test. The remaining are referred to Army hospitals like CMH, and MH. Very few are rejected specifically based on height. So before registering online for PMA make sure you are at least 5.4 Feet.
- In case you are medically fit then you get the date for an interview. Usually, all these three steps the initial test, physical test, medical test, and the interview are completed within 4 days. Sometimes physical and medical tests are conducted on the same day.
Pak Army Interview:
The Pak army initial interview is the last hurdle between you and the Inter services selection board (ISSB).
- Before appearing for the interview make sure to do your homework. Here is the list of areas of the interviewer.
- Your Introduction (Name, Father’s name, family, academics, hobbies)
- General Knowledge (Pakistan, international, Capitals, Rivers, Ministers, Presidents, etc)
- Current Affairs (News, what’s happening around you)
- Basic Mathematics (Multiplication, questions related eggs)
- Watch this video to get a crystal clear idea of how to deliver a perfect interview.
- After a successful interview, the organizers will tell you to wait a bit. After some time they will share the details of pass candidates. The journey of candidates who are not able to pass the interview is over.
- Now the staff will guide you through the process. The next step is the great ISSB. You will be given the ISSB form and staff will guide you through the process. Submit the ISSB form within the due date so that you get the ISSB call.
ISSB Test Pattern:
- ISSB is a generalized test for all forces, the Pak Air Force, Pak Army, and the Pak Navy. In order to be selected for any force, you have to be recommended by the ISSB.
- The ISSB test is based on 4 days. Here are the complete days with details
- Day 1 – Intelligence Test, Incomplete Sentences, Word Association, Picture Story writing, Pointer Story, Self Description, Interview
- Day 2 – Group discussion, Lecture, Group planning, Progressive group task, Half group task, interview with Deputy president
- Day 3 – Command task, obstacles, final group task, mutual assessment form
- Day 4 – Re obstacles, re-interview, re command task.
- This test is the backbone of all forces. 90% of the candidates are rejected by ISSB. Make sure to visit the official ISSB website for more detail.
- As ISSB is a very in-depth test and I cannot mention each and every aspect of it here. Soon I will publish an article about ISSB. Make sure to read it out to perform best in the test.
Technical Cadet Course (TCC):
If you want to be an engineer as well as a Pakistan Army officer then the best way to do is to Join Pak Amry through a Technical cadet course.
After your selection, you will have to take a 4-year degree program in the following disciplines.
Pak Army TCC Engineering Disciplines:
- Civil Engineering – Duration 4 Years
- Electrical Engineering – Duration 4 Years
- Software Engineering – Duration 4 Years
- Information Security – Duration 4 Years
- Mechanical Engineering – Duration 4 Years
- Computer System Engineering – Duration 4 Years
- Mechatronics Engineering – Duration 4 Years
- Aeronautical Engineering – Duration 4 Years
After you have completed your degree you have to undergo 1-year military training at PMA Kakul. The Technical Cadet Course students have to serve in Pak Army for a minimum of 13 Years.

How to Join the Pak Army through Technical Cadet Course?
The process of joining the Pak Army through TCC is the same as for the PMA Long Course.
First, you have to register online, then take the initial computerized test, then the physical test, the medical test, and then the interview. If you are able to qualify for all of these then you will appear in ISSB for the final assessment.
Army Medical Cadet:
The third way to join Pak Army if you have an interest in surgery and as a doctor then you can do so through the Army Medical Cadet course.
The Pak army has two courses for cadets, MBBS and BDS. The MBBS course duration is 5 Years while BDS is only a 4-year program.
After completion of the program, the cadets will go through 22 weeks of military training at PMA Kakul. After completion of the course, the cadets will have to serve in Pak Army for a minimum of 13 years.
Pak Army Army Medical Cadet Course Requirements:

How To Join Pak Army As Captain?
If you were not able to join the PAK army after FSc then don’t feel low, you still got an opportunity.
Pak army also take graduates for special course such as
- Short Service Regular Commission
- Direct Short Service Commission
Moreover, graduates can also apply in the PMA Long course if they fulfill the age limit. The above-mentioned courses include different qualifications. So if you are not able to find your qualification in the above two courses then you can go with the PMA Long Course.
Short Service Regular Commission
Short service regular commission is the fastest way to join the Pak army as a captain or major. The SSRC includes many fields from surgeon to a specialist.

How To Join Pak Army As Captain or Major through SSRC?
Here is the step-by-step procedure to join the Pak army through SSRC as captain or major.
- Register online at the Pak army’s official website.
- You will get the initial test details. Appear for the test which consists of written intelligence and personality test.
- After you have qualified for the preliminary test you have to go through a medical test.
- After the initial procedure is done you will take an interview at the general headquarters.
- The last step is to clear the medical test.
- After all of these steps, you are good to join the Pak army as a captain.
- Note that there is no ISSB for SSRC.
Direct Short Service Commission
The second way to join the Pak army is through the Direct Short Service Commission.

How To Join Pak Army As Captain through DSSC?
Here is the step-by-step procedure to join the Pak army through DSSC as captain.
- Register online at the Pak army’s official website.
- You will get the initial test details. Appear for the test which consists of an academic, intelligence, and personality test.
- After you will undergo a medical test. Same as for the PMA Long course.
- The medical test is the physical test, which is also the same as for PMA LC.
- After these tests, you will have to appear in ISSB for further selection.
- The last step is the final medical.
- This is all that takes to join the Pak army as a captain through DSSRC.

How To Join Pak Army As Captain Through Lady Cadet Course?
Here is the step-by-step procedure to join the Pak army through LCC as captain.
- Register online at the Pak army’s official website.
- You will get the initial test details. Appear for the test which consists of an academic, intelligence, and personality test.
- After you will undergo a medical test.
- After the medical test comes to the physical test, for female candidates the physical test only consists of only 1.6 Km run in 14 minutes.
- After these tests, you will have to appear in ISSB for further selection.
- The last step is the final medical.
- This is all that takes to join the Pak army as a captain through LCC.
- The LCC training period is only 6 months, you will also have to serve in Pak Army for a minimum of 7 years after passing out from PMA.
Armed Forces Nursing Services
Armed Forces Nursing Services is the most common way to join the Pak army after FSc. The course is specifically for females.

How To Join Pak Army through Armed Forces Nursing Services?
Here is the step-by-step procedure to join the Pak army through LCC as captain.
- Register online at the Pak army’s official website.
- You will get the initial test details. Appear for the test which consists of an academic, intelligence, and personality test.
- After you will undergo a medical test.
- After these tests, you will have to appear for an interview.
- This is all that takes to join the Pak army through AFNS.
- The AFNS training period is 4 Years (you will do BSc Nursing from Army hospital.)
- The AFNS will also have to serve in Pak Army for a minimum of 10 years after graduation.
- For trained nurses, the training period is only 6 weeks.
How long does it take to become a captain in the Pak Army?
It takes 3-4 years to become a captain in Pak Army. The Captain serves in Pak Army for 6-7 years. Then comes the Major. One has to serve as a major for 8- 13 years.
The promotion of Major to Lieutenant Colonel is most difficult and very time-consuming. Then you can add 5-7 years till Colonel or Brigadier (Some promote directly to Brigadier skipping Colonel, like General Qamar Javed Bajwa).
Normally the age of Brigadier is around 53-54 years, most of them retire at this point.
How to Join Pak Army as Captain after FSc?
Unfortunately, you cannot join the Pak army as a captain after FSc.
There are only two ways to join Pak Army as a Captain
- DSSC
- SSRC
