UET Lahore provides transport facilities to both day scholars and hostel students.
UET Lahore Notable Alumni:
- Ahsan Iqbal
- Jawad Ahmad
- Sami Khan
- Junaid Jamshed
- Fawad Rana
- Faakhir Mehmood
My verdict:
UET is among the top engineering universities in Pakistan but as it is under the government which is also an advantage and disadvantage.
UET is known for its civil engineering and its related disciplines. If you want to be a civil engineer then I will strongly recommend you join UET Lahore. Its degree has a lot of value as soon as you will graduate there are more likely chances that you get a government job.
UET Lahore is among the oldest universities in Pakistan and because of that they are still caught up with old education systems. Labs are not properly maintained and the teaching staff is also old.
UET is just living an old life. But keeping all the things aside one thing fades away all this negativity and that is the degree value.
5. UET Taxila:
University of engineering and technology Taxila (UET Taxila) is one of the universities that you want to enroll in if you want to be a good engineer. Established in 1975 as a campus of UET Lahore and in 1993 late changed to an independent university.

UET Taxila does provide on-campus hostel facilities but they are very limited. 2 halls with 32 apartments with one bedroom, tv lounge, kitchen, and attached bathroom. These 32 apartments provide a living capacity of 80 students.
You can read the eligibility criteria for hostels at UET by clicking here.
Transport:
UET Taxila provides transports facilities for its students living in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, wah cant, and on campus. There are tonnes of buses available at UET so you don’t have to worry about transport if you are a resident of the above-mentioned areas.
UET Taxila Notable Alumni:
- Parvez Butt. Pakistani nuclear engineer
- Ali Sajid Engineer
- Shaukat Ullah Khan. Politician
My verdict:
UET Taxila is a great university for engineering but the labs and teaching are not up to the standard. As the world is continuously improving day by day but UET Taxila is still lagging behind universities in the research and development field. As UET Lahore is not improving its teaching standard so does UET Taxila.
A graduate from UET Taxila told me that labs are so poor. The equipment is not up to the standard. Sometimes in a lab, there are only 2 workstations for 40 students.
From this, you can visualize os UET Taxila is behind in the teaching field especially in labs and for an engineer, most of the time is usually spent in the labs testing and simulating.
6. IST (Institute of space and technology):
Institute of space and technology (IST) is the best university in Pakistan for astronomy, aerospace engineering, and aeronautics.
Established in 2002 under the administration of HEC focuses on aerospace engineering. IST is in partnership with beighang university and the university of surrey since 2008 to provide better education to Pakistani students.
If you want to do engineering in aerospace and aeronautics then in the whole of Pakistan you will never get a university better than this. It also offers engineering in other disciplines but aeronautics and aerospace of IST is on the next level.
IST is among top engineering universities in Pakistan for aerospace and aeronautics engineering.
Programs offered:
IST offers programs form engineering to sciences. With main focus on avionics and aerospace engineering.

Hostels are equipped with fully furnished rooms. Canteen. Tuk shop, laundry, etc.
You can check IST hostels facility here.
Transport:
Yes, ist provides transport facilities to both local and international students. Buty I couldn’t find more information in which cities they operate.
You can call on this landline number for better information 9075688.
My verdict:
IST is the best university of avionics and aerospace engineering in Pakistan. It does offer other disciplines but these two are the best and IST focuses on these two very much than any other.
If you want to get admission in these two fields then IST must be your first priority.
In case you want to do something else then NUST, PIEAS. GIKI or UET is a better option.
7. UET Peshawar (University of engineering and technology):

You can see the students’ capacity in different UET Peshawar campuses in the image below.
Transport:
Luckily UET Peshawar provides transport for its students and faculty members. University has included minivans, buses, pickups, and trucks to facilitate its faculty as well as students.
UET Peshawar Notable Alumni:
- Mahmood Khan Achakzai
- Amir Muqam
- Farhatullah Babar
- Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and many more
My verdict:
UET peshawar is the best enginering university in KPK as well as in peshawar. Since 1952 it has produced many great politicians and engineers which are serving the nation.
The merit of UET Peshawar is much less than UET Lahore and Taxila, so if you are not able to get admission in both of these then you must apply in UET Peshawar. There is a more likely chance that you will get admission.

NED is the jack of all trade in the engineering discipline. It has a good reputation in Karachi and the best engineering university in Karachi. If you want to get admission in NED than I would say that it is a good university and hard to get enrolled.
10. Air University:
Air University is a public university in Islamabad. Established in 2002 under the influence of the Pakistan air force. It offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees in it, business, humanities, and engineering.
It is under the management of PAF so you can think about how much they focus on discipline. Air University is among to top 10 engineering universities in Pakistan and it is continuously improving its rank day by day.
As an Air university graduate (2016-2020) I will share with you my honest opinion about air university and why you should consider taking admission at Air?
As of 2016 when I joined air it was not at the stage as air is now. Back then labs were poorly maintained, shortage of equipment, and management was too lazy. In some labs, there were only 4 working stations for 40 students. As engineering costs, much and the university was not able to afford it.
But in late 2018 Air university went through a major upgrade. I saw an abrupt change in the teaching system of Air, as there was some degree issue of the previous batch from PEC. But later it all sorted out.
Now the university is affiliated with the Washington accord and this affiliation improved the university a lot. I have seen changes in labs they continuously add more and more education-based study in the curriculum and you have CLO’s and PLO’s which make study only concept based.
In 2016 –2017 student’s strength was low but in 2017-2018 they grew much and now the whole department is always full of students. Air University is now planning to transfer university to a new much bigger are closer to NUST and fast. The air university E-9 campus will be converted to Fazia medical college in years to come.
At a glance, Air University is improving every year they introduce tonnes to new courses in the engineering and business field.
Air university also has 2 sub-campuses. One in Multan and the second currently under construction in Kamra.
Here is the list of affiliated institutes of air university

Civil engineering is currently is the best engineering in Pakistan with the highest salary.
If you choose the engineering field just because of the salary then civil engineering. Not only that there are tonnes of civil engineering jobs available.
Is engineering a good career in Pakistan?
I would not say engineering is a good or bad career. It only depends on you. If you want to do engineering just because your parents are saying or for a good salary then I will strongly recommend you to leave this field. Engineering is the toughest field in whole education systems. Soon, you will realize you were not made to be an engineer.
Universities produce thousands of graduates every year. Did you ever think where do they all go? Some of them change their field, some go abroad, some start driving Uber and Careem and some do jobs for 25000-40000 Rupees per month. There are hundreds of engineers for a single vacancy.
If you want to pursue engineering because you love the field, then engineering will be the most fun in your whole academics. The whole engineering field is based upon three things, design, simulate, and hardware. If engineering is your passion then you will love each and every inch of your whole four-year degree.
